College is established since 1989 by the Higher Education Department of M.P. Government vide order No. 2278/143/ek-f’k-/38-2/89 Bhopal Dated 12.07.1989. Initially its name was Government College Basna but from 2003 the college is renamed as Late Shri Jaidev Satpathi Government College, Basna vide order No. F 73/155/m f’k/2002 Raipur Dated 15.01.2003 of Higher Education Department of Chhattisgarh Government.

It is a degree College where up to degree level study is provided to the students. Initially only the Arts Faculty was started in the College. Vide order no. 2641/ F 3-31/2012 /38-1 Dated 10.07.2012 of Higher Education Department of Chhattisgarh Government Science Faculty ( Bio Group ) and Commerce Faculty are started. Now the college has the following classes and courses (2013-14)-

The College Is Affiliated With Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University Raipur. And It Is Recognized Under Section  2 ( F ) And 12 (B) With University Grants Commission.

Location

Basna is located in N.H. 53 Kolkata Mumbai Highway and it is 135 Kilometer distance from the capital Raipur. The college building is situated 2 Kilometers from the bus stand towards east direction.

Land & Building

College has its own building which is constructed in 2008-09 with the cost of about Rs. One crore twenty one lac. Building is constructed on the part of 15 acres land provided by the Government of Chhattisgarh to the college and is situated in Bitangipali. The college is 500 meters distance from National Highway.
